Washington Report: The State of US Foreign Trade Policy after two Months of the Trump Administration

We invite you to participate in the Webinar Europe & the U.S. in 2025: Economic Realities in a changing Political Landscape, a collaboration between the German Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Portugal) and the RGIT - the liaison office of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) in Washington, D.C.

 

RGIT's team will provide key insights into the latest developments and executive orders impacting US foreign trade policy in the first two months of the Trump Administration. They will also share their perspectives on the potential implications for European businesses and transatlantic trade relations.
 
Following the presentation, there will be an informal Q&A session where you can ask questions and engage in a discussion with our experts.

Christoph Schemionek

President and CEO of the German Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Christoph Schemionek heads the German Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DGIC) and the Representative of German Industry and Commerce (RGIT) in Washington, D.C.
Previously, he was Senior Director for Regional Economic Policy at RGIT. He directed the "German Business in the USA" project, which analysed the economic impact of the American subsidiaries of German companies. He also served as RGIT's representative to the World Bank, assisting companies in the World Bank's public procurement process. He holds a PhD in Geography from the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg. His dissertation compared the metropolitan areas of Atlanta, Denver and Portland and analysed their regional planning policies to limit urban sprawl. He has lived in Washington, D.C. since 2006.

Jay Morgan

Senior Policy Manager at RGIT

Jay Morgan is Senior Policy Manager at RGIT, responsible for technology and security policy.
Previously, he worked in operations for the media group Politico.
Jay holds a master's degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from the American University in Washington, D.C.

Patrick McCown

Policy Manager for Energy and Climate Policy at RGIT

Patrick McCown is Policy Manager for Energy and Climate Policy at RGIT.
Prior to joining RGIT, Patrick gained experience in German business consulting at AHK Atlanta, labour market research at IWAK in Frankfurt and local economic policy at IHK Osnabrück. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the Goethe University in Frankfurt and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Freiburg, with a residency at UCL London.
As the child of a US-American father and a German mother, Patrick feels at home at the intersection of both cultures.
